Pre-Setup Requirements
Before beginning, ensure your NoiseChek dosimeter is placed on the dock and connected to your PC using the included USB-C cable [00:27]. Launch the DataTrac DB software; if the device does not appear automatically, use the Refresh button to populate it in the list [00:41].
Step 1: Configuring Device Settings
Proper configuration ensures you capture the specific data required for your study:
Variable Selection: You can choose up to nine readings to display on the device and seven variables for historical data logging [01:05].
Octave Bands: While typically left off for standard rentals to save storage, you can enable full or 1/3 octave bands for more detailed frequency analysis [01:27].
Logging Interval: You can adjust the data logging frequency between one second and one minute [01:54].
Security Features: Options like Secure Lock allow you to set a PIN to prevent unauthorized users from stopping the study [02:11].
Audio Recording: You can set the device to record actual audio when noise exceeds a specific threshold (e.g., 90 dB or 100 dB) to help identify anomalous sounds [04:02].
Step 2: Setting Up Virtual Dosimeters
The software allows you to run multiple virtual dosimeters simultaneously to meet different regulatory standards:
Presets: Easily select standards like OSHA HC (Hearing Conservation), OSHA PEL, and ACGIH [02:57].
Customization: Use the "User Custom" option to name and define your own variables, such as threshold levels (minimum 70 dB) and exchange rates [03:14].
Projected Time: Configure your projected study time, typically set to a standard 8-hour shift [04:38].
Step 3: Managing Data and Generating Reports
Once your study is complete, follow these steps to process your results:
Downloading History: Navigate to the History tab and click Download History to pull data from the dosimeter to your computer [06:03].
Editing Information: You can add specific details to the record, such as the company name, location, the person wearing the device, and even custom notes (e.g., "John went to lunch at 11:00") [07:03].
Reviewing Graphs: Use the Log section to view a visual graph of noise levels. You can use the magnifying glass tool to add or remove specific data lines from the chart [07:41].
Exporting: Reports can be exported as a CSV (Excel) file for raw data or a Summary Report (PDF/Word) which includes your logo, device settings, calibration data, and the noise level graph [08:34].
