Pre-Setup Requirements
Before starting, ensure you have a clean workspace and all components: the hood fabric, the base assembly, the four support poles, and the micromanometer.
Step 1: Structural Hood Assembly
Building the frame correctly ensures the hood maintains a proper seal against the ceiling or vent:
-
Initial Expansion: Unfold the hood fabric and expand the assembly to expose the interior mounting points [00:12].
-
Inserting Support Poles: Take the first support pole and insert the metal-tipped end into the silver base connector on the hood assembly [00:34].
-
Corner Seating: Bend the pole slightly and seat the other end into the reinforced pocket in the top corner of the fabric [00:45].
-
Repeat: Follow this process for the remaining three poles until the hood is under tension and can stand on its own [01:03]. Note: Inserting the final poles will require more force as the tension increases [01:19].
Step 2: Mounting the Micromanometer
The micromanometer is the "brain" of the unit and must be securely attached to the base:
-
Attachment: Align the manometer with the mounting bracket on the base of the hood. Press it firmly until it snaps into place [01:33].
-
Cable Connection: Plug the sensor cables into the side of the manometer to link the pressure sensors in the hood to the display unit [01:51].
Step 3: Ready for Testing
Once the poles are seated and the manometer is connected, the unit is ready to be placed over a diffuser or grille to measure airflow.
