It's a multiparameter indoor air quality and area monitoring instrument that simultaneously measures and logs particulate mass (PM2.5, PM4, PM10, or TSP via rotary impactor), VOCs (PID), CO, CO₂, temperature, and RH in a single device. It's designed for IAQ investigations where you need multiple parameters correlated to identify whether an issue is ventilation, particles, or a contaminant source.

Use a handheld PID for quick VOC screening and spatial mapping. Use the EVM-7 when you need VOC, PM, and gas parameters logged together over time — so you can see whether spikes in one parameter correlate with others.

The EVM-7 is built around aerosol mass monitoring with a built-in sampling pump and selectable size-fraction impactor — it's the right choice when particulate characterization is central. The Q-Trak XP is a modular multiparameter monitor with real-time graphing optimized for ventilation and comfort parameter surveys. Choose based on whether PM fraction selection or sensor modularity matters more for your project.

The rotary impactor lets you select the PM fraction you're measuring (PM2.5, PM4, PM10, or TSP) without swapping hardware. This matters when your investigation requires a specific particle size fraction to compare against an exposure standard or benchmark.

Place it at breathing zone height, away from direct supply air diffusers (unless characterizing those), and document placement, HVAC state, and any nearby activity. Context is what makes trend data defensible — a data logger without placement notes is hard to interpret.
