Industrial Hygiene (IH) Field Kit Essentials: A Professional Setup Guide

Tubing is NOT automatically included but can be upon request. Please use Optional Equipment & Accessories to review what we offer

The AirChek TOUCH by SKC is a touchscreen personal air sampling pump offering a broad flow range of 5–5,000 ml/min without an adapter, and 0.005–0.5 LPM in low-flow mode with an adapter, making it one of the most versatile pumps available for industrial hygiene sampling. It delivers ±5% flow accuracy per ISO 13137:2022 and provides up to 20 hours of battery life per charge. Rated intrinsically safe for Class I, Division 1 hazardous environments, it is ideal for a wide range of chemical, dust, and vapor sampling applications in manufacturing, construction, mining, and laboratory environments.

What is the SKC AirChek Touch used for?
It's a wearable personal air sampling pump that pulls a controlled airflow through sampling media — filter cassettes, sorbent tubes, or impactors — so a lab can determine worker exposure concentration. It covers 1–5 LPM standard flow and 5–500 ml/min low-flow with the included adapter, handling most OSHA and NIOSH personal sampling methods in one unit.
AirChek Touch vs. GilAir Plus — what's the practical difference?
Both cover similar flow ranges for personal IH sampling. The AirChek Touch is known for its touchscreen interface, automatic flow correction, and ISO 13137:2022 certification. The GilAir Plus offers constant-flow and constant-pressure modes without external adapters. Choose based on your team's workflow, interface preference, and whether the site requires a specific intrinsic safety certification.
Is the AirChek Touch intrinsically safe?
Yes — it's UL-certified Intrinsically Safe, Class I, Division 1, Groups A–D. This matters when sampling in environments with flammable gases or vapors. Confirm the exact area classification with your safety team and keep the certification documentation with the sampling kit.
How do I verify flow before sampling?
Connect the full sampling train (pump, tubing, cassette or tube, adapter), set your target flow on the touchscreen, then confirm actual flow using a primary flow calibrator. Document the verified flow as part of your chain of custody. Re-verify any time you change media type, tubing length, or add the low-flow adapter.
How long will the battery last for a full shift?
Up to 20 hours at 2,000 ml/min and 10 hours at 5,000 ml/min. For an 8–12 hour shift, match your flow setting to those figures and start with a full charge. Use screen lock to prevent accidental changes, and document any on/off periods so your total sampled volume is accurate.
What causes a sample to be rejected by the lab?
Almost always documentation or handling failures — not pump failure. Missing start/stop times, unrecorded flow changes, unlabeled media, or contamination during transport are the common culprits. Keep a complete chain of custody: media ID, worker/task, verified flow, and times. A technically sound sample with incomplete paperwork is still unusable for compliance decisions.
What's included in the AirChek Touch rental kit?
The kit includes the AirChek Touch pump, charging/communication cradle, cassette holder with Tygon tubing and Luer adapter, low-flow adapter with SKC tube cover (70mm), black tubing, mini-USB cable, power supply, and software/manuals on USB. Sampling media (filters, sorbent tubes) and lab analysis are not included.
What does it cost to rent the SKC AirChek Touch?
$45/day and $120/week. Pricing beyond two weeks is by quote. For multi-worker sampling campaigns, the number of pumps and cradles matters more than the per-unit rate — budget by sample count and worker count, not just rental duration.
