The Chek-Mate Low Flow by SKC is a portable electronic flowmeter built for verifying and calibrating personal air sampling pumps in the low flow range of 0.02–0.5 LPM (20–500 ml/min), with a volumetric accuracy of ±1% of reading compliant with ISO 13137:2022 and ASTM D5337. It communicates directly with CalChek-ready pumps such as the AirChek TOUCH and GilAir Plus for automatic single-point verification or full multi-point calibration, eliminating manual flow adjustment and reducing operator error. What flow range and accuracy does the Chek-Mate Low Flow offer?
20 to 500 mL/min volumetric. Accuracy is plus or minus 1 percent of reading from 50 to 500 mL/min, widening to plus or minus 2.5 percent between 20 and 50 mL/min. If you are working at the very bottom of the range, expect the wider tolerance.
How fine is the display resolution?
0.01 mL/min below 99.99 mL/min, then 0.1 mL/min from 100 to 500 mL/min. The finer step at the low end matters because a 1 mL/min error on a 25 mL/min sample is a 4 percent error on your calculated exposure.
What sampling does this calibrator suit?
Low-flow work: sorbent tubes, passive badges and gas sampling methods that run between roughly 20 and 500 mL/min. For filter cassettes and cyclones at 1 to 4 L/min you need the Chek-Mate Medium Flow instead.
Are there altitude or barometric limits I should know about?
Yes, and they matter more than on most instruments. It operates from sea level to roughly 10,000 feet (3,050 m), with barometric pressure between 20.7 and 32.2 inches of mercury (700 to 1,090 mbar). Since it reads volumetric flow, working outside that band puts your readings outside the specified accuracy.
How long does it run, and what battery does it take?
Approximately 30 hours on a single disposable 9-volt alkaline (PP3), depending on the battery. Its operating temperature range is 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (0 to 40 Celsius).
Does it carry any certifications?
It is CE marked and RoHS compliant. As with every RAECO Rents instrument, it ships NIST-traceable calibrated.
How does it compare with the Bios Defender 520L?
They cover almost the same band, the 520L reaching slightly lower at 5 mL/min against 20 mL/min here. The Chek-Mate publishes explicit accuracy figures per sub-range and runs simply on a 9-volt battery. The 520L offers accuracy backed by NVLAP NIST ISO 17025 accreditation plus interval logging and a PC interface. Pick the Defender if you need the calibration record captured digitally, or this if you want a straightforward field check.
