The Casella dBadge2IS is an intrinsically safe personal noise dosimeter with Bluetooth connectivity for Android and Apple devices, designed for personal noise assessment in hazardous environments including oil and gas, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Using the Airwave app, users can remotely view status and start, stop, or pause measurements from a mobile phone, while the dashboard display provides data at a glance with the ability to email data with photos and notes directly to a PC. Battery life is about 35+ hours per charge.

Unless a specific configuration request is made prior to rental, all dBadge2IS units are preconfigured with OSHA HC, OSHA PEL, and ACGIH settings.

What is the Casella dBadge2IS and why is intrinsic safety important for noise dosimetry?
The Casella dBadge2IS is an intrinsically safe personal noise dosimeter certified for use in ATEX Zone 1/Zone 2 and NEC Class I, Div 1/Div 2 classified hazardous locations. Most noise dosimeters are not intrinsically safe and cannot be used in flammable/explosive environments such as refineries, chemical plants, and oil and gas facilities. The dBadge2IS allows workers in classified areas to be monitored for noise exposure simultaneously with gas hazard monitoring.
What noise measurement parameters does the dBadge2IS record?
The dBadge2IS records Lavg/Leq, Lmax, Lpk, TWA, dose, and STEL with configurable exchange rates (3 dB, 4 dB, 5 dB) and criterion levels. It supports both OSHA and international noise standards.
How does the dBadge2IS compare to the TSI Quest Edge 5?
The Edge 5 offers octave band analysis and Bluetooth wireless data download via TSI DMS software, but is not intrinsically safe. The dBadge2IS is intrinsically safe for Zone 1 environments and provides standard dosimetry measurements but without octave band capability. For hazardous classified areas, the dBadge2IS is the compliant choice.
