The TSI Quest Edge 5 is an intrinsically safe personal noise dosimeter that simultaneously measures against three virtual dosimeters with a measurement range of 70–140 dB RMS and peak detection up to 143 dB. Data is logged at one-minute intervals and easily downloaded via the EdgeDock and Detection Management Software (DMS), making it a trusted solution for occupational noise monitoring in industrial, manufacturing, construction, and hazardous environments. Battery life is about 30 hours per charge.

Unless a specific configuration request is made prior to rental, all Edge 5 units are preconfigured with OSHA HC, OSHA PEL, and ACGIH settings.

What standards does the TSI Quest Edge 5 meet for noise dosimetry?
The Edge 5 meets ANSI S1.25 Type 2 specifications for personal noise dosimeters and is compliant with OSHA 1910.95 (general industry) and OSHA 1926.52 (construction) noise measurement requirements. It supports both the OSHA 5 dB exchange rate (90 dBA TWA criterion) and the ACGIH/NIOSH 3 dB exchange rate (85 dBA TWA criterion) — configurable for your measurement standard.
What is the difference between the Edge 4 Plus and the Edge 5?
The Edge 5 adds octave band frequency analysis (1/1-octave) to the core dosimetry data provided by the Edge 4 Plus. Octave band data is needed for engineering noise control design, hearing conservation program audiometric baseline validation, and detailed frequency-weighted assessments. The Edge 4 Plus measures Lavg, Leq, Lmax, Lpk, TWA, and dose without octave band breakdowns.
How does the Edge 5 communicate data to a PC?
The Edge 5 transfers data wirelessly via Bluetooth to TSI Detection Management Software (DMS) or Quest Suite PC software. DMS generates OSHA-ready reports, dose calculations, and printable survey summaries. The rental includes DMS software access.
How long does the Edge 5 battery last during sampling?
The Edge 5 operates for approximately 40 hours on a single charge — well beyond a standard 8-hour shift — making it suitable for multi-shift sampling without recharging between days.
Can the Edge 5 be used in intrinsically safe environments?
