Note: This unit is calibrated every 2 years. NIST calibration is valid for 1 year. Contact RAECO Rents to confirm availability if required.

The Extech LT300 is a digital light meter with a measurement range of 1 to 200,000 Lux (0.1 to 20,000 Foot-candles), using a detachable CIE photopic-response photo sensor on a 12 in. coiled cable (expandable to 24 in.). Built-in functions include Max/Min recording, Peak Hold (captures pulses as fast as 10 µs), Data Hold, and Relative mode for differential comparisons. Large backlit LCD with bargraph display. Suitable for OSHA lighting compliance checks, illumination audits, and energy efficiency assessments in offices, factories, hospitals, cleanrooms, and schools.

What is the Extech LT300 used for?
It measures illumination levels in workplaces, offices, labs, and industrial environments for lighting adequacy assessments, OSHA lighting compliance support, and ergonomic evaluations. It reads in both Lux (40–200,000) and foot-candles (40–20,000 Fc).
LT300 vs. a UV meter — what's the difference?
The LT300 measures visible light illumination (Lux/Fc). UV meters measure ultraviolet radiation by wavelength band. Use the LT300 for lighting adequacy checks; use a UV meter for UV hazard assessment or UVGI validation.
What is the remote light sensor, and why does it matter?
The sensor is on a coiled cable separate from the meter body. This lets you position the sensor at the exact point of interest — a workstation surface, a reading plane, or a task area — without the meter body casting shadows or blocking the measurement.
How do I take repeatable illumination readings?
Use a consistent measurement height and orientation for each point, avoid casting shadows over the sensor, and confirm fixtures are in normal operating mode. Take multiple readings — illumination varies significantly with distance and angle from fixtures.
What's a common mistake in lighting surveys?
Taking one reading and calling it representative of a work area. Illumination levels vary across aisles, between workstations, and around obstructions. Use a defined grid or point list and document conditions (all lights on, time of day, blinds open/closed).
What's included in the rental kit?
The LT300 meter with protective rubber jacket, remote photo sensor with protective cap and coiled cable, 9V battery installed, carrying case, and user guide.
What does it cost to rent the Extech LT300?
$55/day and $125/week. For lighting surveys covering multiple areas, the weekly rate is typically more economical than day rates for any project that requires more than two days of measurement. The survey itself is quick — documentation and reporting time often extends the rental.
