Step 1: Accessing the Setup Menu
To begin your frequency analysis, power on the SoundPro and navigate to the Setup menu using the arrow keys [00:27]. It is important to verify your basic meter parameters before proceeding to specialized measurements.
Step 2: Configuring Octave Band Filters
To capture sound levels at specific frequencies, enable the correct filters:
-
Meter Options: Open Meter Set to verify your measurement parameters [00:33].
-
Enable Data Logging: Confirm data logging is active so results are saved to the memory card [00:46].
-
Activate Filters: Ensure Octave Band Filters are turned on. If this setting is disabled, no frequency data will be saved during the study [00:50].
Step 3: Selecting Study Types (SLM vs. 1/1 vs. 1/3)
The bottom-left corner of the main menu screen shows your current study mode [01:17]. Use the soft keys to toggle between these views:
-
SLM: Provides a standard Sound Level Meter reading [01:32].
-
1/1 Octave: Displays octave band filters. In this mode, you can manually adjust the decibel range higher or lower to improve reading resolution [01:40].
-
1/3 Octave: Provides the most detailed view, offering a larger data set of sound levels across the frequency spectrum [01:56].
