The Aeroqual AQS 1 is a compact, near-reference, real-time air quality monitor for outdoor particulate and gas monitoring projects. Housed in a rugged, weatherproof enclosure with a modular design, it can measure multiple PM size fractions and up to three gas pollutants simultaneously while sending remote, real-time data to Aeroqual monitoring software.

Use the AQS 1 for construction and remediation air monitoring, fenceline and fugitive dust monitoring, industrial site monitoring, landfill monitoring, quarry and mining operations, urban air quality networks, and community air quality studies where defensible real-time data is needed.

What it measures:
- Particulate matter: PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, and TSP
- Gas pollutants: VOCs, O3, NO2, CO, H2S, SO2, and CH4
- Environmental factors: temperature, humidity, noise, barometric pressure, precipitation, solar radiation, wind speed, and wind direction depending on configuration

Key technology:
- Pumped sampling system provides reliable flow to sensor modules and uses built-in filters to help protect gas sensors from airborne dust.
- Automatic Baseline Correction auto-corrects the zero baseline for gas measurement to reduce drift and cross-interference.
- The NO2 module uses an integrated O3 filter to reduce ozone interference.
- The PCX module measures multiple PM size fractions with automatic flow control and an efficient inlet heater to reduce humidity interference.
- PCX Smart Heater and Aeroqual Cloud Power Scheduler features can reduce energy use for off-grid or cold-weather deployments.
- The AQS 1 is factory calibrated using NIST-traceable reference materials.

Common applications include Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), Remediation Community Air Monitoring Plans (CAMP), fenceline and fugitive dust emissions monitoring, landfill monitoring, industrial and occupational hygiene monitoring, HSE monitoring, and urban/community air monitoring networks.

Calibration and service planning: The AQS 1 is delivered with NIST-traceable factory calibration. Aeroqual states that most users can depend on 12-month factory calibration for gas modules. PM engine service intervals depend on the particle module: the AQS 1 Particle Monitor is recommended at 24 months, while the AQS 1 Particle Profiler is recommended at 12 months. Confirm the exact PM and gas module configuration before quoting.

What is the Aeroqual AQS 1 used for?
The Aeroqual AQS 1 is used for continuous outdoor air quality monitoring where a project needs real-time particulate and gas data. Typical uses include construction and remediation air monitoring, fenceline and fugitive dust monitoring, landfill monitoring, quarry and mining dust control, industrial site monitoring, and urban/community air quality studies.
What particulate sizes does the AQS 1 measure?
Depending on configuration, the AQS 1 can measure PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, and TSP in real time.
Can the AQS 1 measure PM10 and PM2.5 simultaneously?
Yes. When configured with the PCX Particle Module, the AQS 1 measures PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, and TSP as standard.
Is the AQS 1 certified for PM monitoring?
The AQS 1 PM10 nephelometer configuration is listed as MCERTS certified and South Coast AQMD Rule 1466 pre-approved. Confirm the exact PM module and configuration before using certification claims in a project submittal.
Does the AQS 1 ship with calibration documentation?
Yes. Aeroqual states the AQS 1 is delivered with NIST-traceable factory calibration. The calibration certificate and interval depend on the exact PM and gas module configuration.
How often does the AQS 1 need calibration?
Gas modules can generally rely on 12-month factory calibration for normal users. PM engine intervals depend on configuration: Aeroqual lists 24 months for the AQS 1 Particle Monitor and 12 months for the AQS 1 Particle Profiler. For the likely multi-size PM1/PM2.5/PM4/PM10/TSP configuration, plan around annual PM engine service unless Aeroqual confirms otherwise.
What gases can the AQS 1 monitor?
The AQS 1 can be configured for up to three gases at the same time, with options including VOCs, ozone (O3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and methane (CH4).
