The QRAE 3 by RAE Systems is a compact, wireless-enabled 4-gas monitor designed for personal safety and confined space applications. It simultaneously detects combustible gases, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon monoxide with a LEL range of 0–100% (1% resolution), O₂ range of 0–30.0% (0.1% resolution), CO range of 0–500 ppm (1 ppm resolution), and H₂S range of 0–100 ppm (0.1 ppm resolution). Built-in datalogging records STEL, TWA, peak, and minimum values, storing up to three months of data at 1-minute intervals with a minimum 8-hour runtime. Compatible with Honeywell Safety Suite Device Configurator Software for simplified device setup and compliance tracking.

What is the QRAE 3 used for?
The QRAE 3 is a personal multigas detector used for worker protection in confined space and general industrial safety monitoring. It gives quick, continuous readings for the core hazards that drive most entry permits.
What gases does the QRAE 3 detect?
Up to four gases: LEL (combustible), oxygen (O2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and carbon monoxide (CO). Confirm your permit hazard list matches this sensor set before you rely on it.
What do LEL and oxygen readings tell me during an entry check?
LEL indicates flammability risk relative to the Lower Explosive Limit. Oxygen tells you whether the atmosphere is oxygen-deficient or enriched. Together they answer the first two permit questions: is it explosive, and is it breathable? Use your permit and SOP thresholds for pass/fail decisions.
What do TWA and STEL mean on a gas monitor?
TWA (time-weighted average) is an average exposure over time. STEL (short-term exposure limit) is a short averaging window meant to capture brief peaks. The QRAE 3 records STEL, TWA, peak, and minimum values so you can see both sustained exposure and spikes.
QRAE 3 vs. a pumped monitor — what's the difference?
Pumped monitors actively draw air through a sampling path and are useful for pre-entry checks through tubing or sampling from a distance. The QRAE 3 is commonly used as a personal monitor. If you need remote sampling before entry, choose a pumped unit or add the correct sampling accessories (a RAE Probe Kit is available).
QRAE 3 vs. MultiRAE — when do I need the bigger monitor?
Use the QRAE 3 when the core 4-gas hazards cover your risk. Use the MultiRAE when you need additional toxics and/or VOC screening (PID) in the same workflow. Start with the hazard assessment, not the instrument.
Can QRAE 3 logs support compliance documentation?
It records STEL, TWA, peak, and minimum values and stores up to three months of data at configurable intervals (1 to 3,600 seconds). That can support recordkeeping, but you still need permit documentation and a process for exporting and storing logs.
