How to Download Data From TSI Instruments Using Standard TrakPro Software

A comprehensive guide to managing data from TSI environmental monitors using TrakPro software. This 8-minute tutorial covers everything from receiving raw data and exporting clean CSV files for Excel to generating annotated graphs and professional PDF reports for your indoor air quality or dust monitoring studies.

Pre-Setup Requirements

Before starting the download, ensure your TSI instrument is powered on. Connect the device to your computer using a USB cable and launch the TrakPro software [00:41].

Step 1: Receiving Data from the Instrument

Transferring your logged studies from the device to your PC is the first step in analysis:

  • Initialize Transfer: Go to File > Receive to locate your connected instrument [00:57].

  • Select Tests: Highlight the tests you want to download. Use Select All or hold the Ctrl key to select multiple logs [01:12].

  • Proceed: Click Proceed to import the data into TrakPro [01:25].

Step 2: Exporting to Excel (CSV)

For detailed data manipulation, exporting to a spreadsheet is the best option:

  • Export Menu: Go to File > Export and select the test data you want to export [02:29].

  • File Configuration: Choose Comma as your delimiter for the best formatting [02:38].

  • Saving Tip: Save the file as "All Files" and manually add .csv to the end of your filename (e.g., testdata.csv). This helps Excel open the file with clean formatting and properly separated columns [02:54].

Step 3: Generating PDF Reports and Graphs

TrakPro allows you to create professional visual summaries of your data:

  • Text Reports: Go to the Reports tab and select Test Data Report. To save it as a document, use File > Print and select Microsoft Print to PDF [04:07].

  • Graphing: Click Graph > New and select your log data to generate a visual timeline [05:06].

  • Customization: Add notes, adjust text settings, and modify line colors as needed [05:33].

  • Saving Graphs: Print the graph to PDF or use Graph > Store to save it into your TrakPro profile (.tkp file) for future access [05:57].
