The ToxiRAE Pro by Honeywell RAE Systems is a configurable single-gas personal monitor designed for continuous exposure monitoring in confined space, industrial hygiene, and Class I, Division 1 hazardous area applications. When renting, customers select one interchangeable electrochemical sensor from 12 available options CO, CO (H₂-compensating), H₂S, SO₂, NO₂, NO, H₂, Cl₂, NH₃, HCHO, ClO₂ ETO-A, or HCN, allowing the same rugged platform to cover a wide range of toxic gas hazards depending on the application. The device features visual, audible, and vibratory alarms including a Man Down alarm for five-way notification, a minimum 8-hour battery runtime, and IP65/67 water- and dust-resistant housing with a protective rubber boot. Built-in datalogging stores up to three months of STEL, TWA, peak, and real-time exposure data, and the unit is compatible with Honeywell Safety Suite Device Configurator Software for data management and compliance reporting.

The ToxiRAE Pro CO is a single-gas personal monitor used for continuous carbon monoxide (CO) exposure monitoring when you need a wearable alarm plus a trackable record of exposure values. It's built for the friction point in CO work: exposure can spike during specific tasks, and you need to know it while it's happening.

The product description lists a CO range of 0 to 500 ppm with 1 ppm resolution. Use those numbers to confirm the monitor fits your expected CO environment.

Real-time is the current reading. Peak is the highest value seen. STEL is a short-term average intended to capture short spikes, and TWA is a time-weighted average over a longer period. Those values help you separate "brief spike during a task" from "sustained exposure during a shift."

Keep it where it samples the air the worker is actually exposed to, typically in the breathing zone per your SOP. Don't bury it under clothing or behind barriers that block airflow, because that can delay or distort response.

Use a 4-gas monitor when you need oxygen, LEL, CO, and H2S together for entry or broad protection. Use a single-gas CO monitor when CO is the primary hazard and you want a simpler, lower-burden wearable option for multiple workers.

A personal monitor tells you what a worker is exposed to. An area monitor tells you what a location looks like. If your friction is "workers move between spaces," personal monitoring usually provides more actionable data.

Placement and task differences drive most variance. If one worker is closer to an exhaust source or has the monitor placed differently, readings will differ. Standardize placement, document task steps, and compare like-for-like conditions.

CO spikes can be short and localized—door openings, equipment cycling, and movement through a plume can trigger brief alarms. Treat alarms as real until you confirm conditions. Re-check the area, document what changed, and follow your SOP for response actions.

Recording numbers without context. A peak value is far more useful when it's tied to a task step and conditions (equipment state, ventilation, location). Without that, it's hard to fix the cause.
